The 21-Year Hiatus Is Over

The Rams are back home. Not Cleveland, which was their first home, but L.A. Here's everything you need to know about the departure from St. Louis and what to expect next.

NFL owners voted 30-2 to allow the St. Louis Rams to move to Los Angeles for the 2016 season and to give the San Diego Chargers a one-year option to join the Rams in Inglewood. Only 24 votes are needed for approval. For the sake of not complicating matters more, let us leave where the Raiders and Chargers stand out of this article. Bringing the NFL back to the city of angels solidifies the fact that L.A. has become the epicenter of the sports world.

Who are the L.A. fans going to be watching for decades to come? The L.A. Rams left numerous stars behind when they relocated to St.Louis in 1995. Some of those names are Demon Deacon Jones of the 60's, Vince Ferragamo, and the duo of Eric Dickerson and Jerome Bettis in the 80's and early 90's. But who are these new fresh faces ready to take the field in Los Angeles?

These bright young stars are the new faces L.A. fans will get to see every Sunday ( Todd Gurley to left, Aaron Donald to right ). Todd Gurley may very well be following the footsteps of Eric Dickerson and Jerome Bettis as the next great Rams runningback in L.A. In just his first season in the NFL, Gurley accumulated 1,106 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns scored. He was just the second Rams rookie to post those numbers. The first? You guessed it, Eric Dickerson. Donald, who has now exploded onto the scene, reached his first Pro-Bowl in 2015 (along with Gurley) and should be considered in the race for Defensive Player of the Year. Many great years are to come for L.A. with these young studs at the helm.

What can we expect from the team in 2016?
Although these Rams boast a talented defense and superstar running back, a lot more needs to be seen from this team before we can label them a true contender. The QB position is a huge question, a huge question you do not want to have. Two contenders reside in the same division, the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals, each of which have the QB position set for years to come. Expect an exciting young team who wil still be searching for an identity in 2016.

When can we expect the new stadium to be built?
Oddly enough, Chris Meany, the development director, was quoted saying that he is not sure when stadium construction will begin. Construction of this marvel stadium will begin immediately albeit the director's comments. 2019 is the estimated year the new stadium will be completed. So...

Where will the L.A. Rams play while their stadium is being built?
Because of the long process of building an NFL stadium, the Rams will have to spend three years in a temporary home. That said temporary home has yet to be determined by NFL officials or Roger Goodell. However, The L.A. Memorial Coliseum is the most likely venue, where the Raiders of old used to call home as well as the current USC Trojans.

Why did the Rams leave St. Louis in the first place?
It's all about the mula. The revenue generated by having an NFL team and stadium in one of the largest and most popular sports cities in the world would greatly surpass any amount generated in the Midwest. This new stadium in Inglewood will for sure be the site of many future SuperBowls. When it comes down to it, not having at least one NFL team in L.A. was foolish to begin with.

The greatest show on turf may be coming back to Los Angeles.
